Quick Boston Update

Nicholas is going to Boston on Saturday, was going to go tomorrow, but a rainstorm has delayed the flight crew. Louie is not coming home right away. He'll stay in Boston until Nicholas has his surgery. They're going to fly Anna back to Burlington and bring Nicholas to Boston on the return flight. We'll let you know as more develops in Boston.

As seen in the photo, Katie was put on C-PAP. It's a machine that forces oxygen in through her nose. They are required to breathe on their own with some mild support. They must do all the work. She has been on it since noon today. Premature babies can breathe on C-PAP for 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, or can stay on it until they don't need extra breathing support-which is the goal.

When I left this evening, she was still doing okay, but they told me don't be surprised if I come in tomorrow and she's back on the vent. But overall she's a strong girl and doing good.

Anna is doing just fine and is ready to come home. She has shown great improvement since her surgery. We are very pleased.

NEW PICS below thanks to Gretchin.

Have a good night to everyone. God bless and be well.

Love,
Sarah, Louie, Anna, Katie, and Nicholas

Oh my goodness! They are getting so big. Thank you for the updated pictures--you can really see their little features. The girls are just beautiful and handsome little Nicholas is sure to be a heartbreaker!

So glad things are progressing as they should and Nicholas will be able to get his surgery soon. One more step on a long road ahead but you all are doing just wonderfully.

I can't believe their one month birthday is coming up! Before you know it they'll be home in Wilmington and just wait until they all start walking--that's when the fun really starts!

As always you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Much love, Dawn, Al and the gang xoxo

I know it's early yet, but it's so good to see Katie off that vent!!! Leader of the pack, isn't she? We'll be praying non stop until we hear that Nicholas has come through safely, following the excellent example his sisters have set forth for him!

What a pleasure it was spending a few days with Louie and Anna in Boston. Anna is so precious and beautiful!

My original intention was to go and give Louie the support he needed. I had it backwards. After seeing Anna for the first time, my heart melted. I found myself looking to Louie for strength. The fortitude and courage Louie possesses is tremendous.

I had such a hard time leaving them. I went in to say goodbye to Anna and she was so awake. Her eyes were wide open, and her little arms and legs were moving all around. Truly inspiring. I wanted to thank Louie and Sarah for allowing me to be a little part in this journey.

Love,
Rick

Sorry that the rain delayed the flight. It is pretty nasty out there! I am glad to hear that all is going well and that Nicholas will soon be having his surgery. I will be saying many prayers that Katie continues to do well with the CPAP. I hope that you all have an uneventful (other than a great surgery and recovery for Nicholas) weekend.
