Changes

Hi everyone...

Anna's Boston trip was postponed today and they plan on flying her tomorrow (11/16/09.) There was no room for Anna on the surgical schedule so instead of making her wait in Boston they will pick her up tomorrow at some point and maybe get her on Tuesday's schedule-a lot of waiting. Overall though at this point Anna is doing good and remains stable.

Katie has been doing well also they are everyday increasing her feedings and as long as she gains weight and has no "clinical issues" they are planning on removing her ventilator tubes late next week, this can all change though daily. Katie looks very good and moves around quite a bit throughout the day-which is a good sign.

Now Nicholas... Well yesterday the doctors took an X-Ray of his chest and abdomen due to increased alarms throughout the last 3 days-alarms meaning that he is aggitated, irregularities in heart rhythm or breathing irregularities. X-ray showed some hazy appearance around his belly and bowel so they stopped his feeding and immediately put him on antibiotics to stop any infection that may be starting. This morning after repeat x-ray they believe that he has a bowel infection and may have responded to the antibiotics and they will continue this treatment over the next 7 days and continue to hold all feeds to keep the bowel quiet. This infection can come on over a few days, can be hard to diagnose , and is very serious so he is being monitored very closely. We are not able to hold him so that is very hard-I feel so helpless I just talk to him and tell him how much we love him. He does look good though and on examination has not had a "puffy belly," that is promising.

The stress and worry is overwhelming, everyday is exactly how the staff describes it to us, "a rollercoaster ride" for sure!!! So Louie will head to Boston tomorrow as planned so far and I will stay back with Nicholas and Katie. Nicholas's trip to Boston is postponed until his X-rays are normal and he is better. That is all the news I have to give, I hope everyone is doing well and we send our love to all of you. Thank you again for all the prayers, warm wishes, food, and gifts we still have such a long road ahead and appreciate all the help and support given.

God Bless and be well.

Love,
Sarah, Louie, Anna, Katie and Nicholas

Louie and Sarah, Oh how our hearts go out to you. Our prayer for you both is that you will see the light at the end of this tunnel. Anna, Katie, and Nicholas are prayed for daily by sooooo many people. I know that God hears our prayers and I know that God loves you, Louie, Anna, Katie and Nicholas. Take one day at a time and look to God to get you through this. We all love you and miss you very much and can't wait to spoil the jeepers out of Anna, Katie and Nicholas. Sophia and Emma pray for their cousins every day and night and can't wait to hold them in their arms. XOXO Rick, Rene, Sophia and Emma

Louie and Sarah: There is not one time that goes by that I don't shed some tears when I read your blog updates. It is either from the pictures of their sweet little beautiful faces or from the multiple ups and downs you all face everyday with such grace.

I have to say I am absolutely humbled by the courage, strength and unwavering determination you both have shown in such a time of crisis and stress. Your precious children are very lucky to have such special parents and you have my admiration and as always my love and prayers.

We are all traveling this journey with you in our hearts even if we
can't be there with you physically. Please stay strong and know that you are not alone.

Much love to you all---Dawn, Al and the gang xoxo

Dear Louie and Sarah,
Oh my ... the babies are sooo beautiful!!! Your pictures are so precious! Thank you for sharing them with all of us. The babies' color looks great! They are so amazing; God does great work; they are so perfect; perfect little fingers and toes; God will finish the perfect work he has started (Psalms 139:13-15). Know that we pray for you and the babies often throughout the day.
God continue to bless you and the babies. Our love to you.

Sarah and Louie, it’s another beautiful day. My heart goes out to you two wonderful people and your beautiful little family. My heart aches for you as you face the ups and downs of the NICU. It isn’t easy being there with one child, I cannot imagine what it is like to be there with three. Please be assured of my continued prayer for you both and for Nicholas, Anna, & Kate. Remember that with God, you can get through anything! Someday this will all be history and the five of you will treasure God’s faithfulness.
God Bless & Keep you All,

I am so sorry for all the stressful developments. I am glad to hear that they will at least wait to fly Anna, until they can actually do the surgery rather than wait and have her and Louie, hanging around for nothing. I am sorry to hear about Nicholas's additional complications. I pray that he continues to respond well to the antibiotics and that he does not have any additional complications, related to this.
