Katie had her surgery early this morning and is doing well. She has had a surgically placed feeding tube put directly into her stomach so she can allow her throat and airway to heal. As far as I know at this point she will have most every feed put through this tube for the next 6 months or so. She has had a very hard day and is still recovering 14 hrs later but she pulled through like a champ...as always! We may be able to go home early next week if she does well over the weekend and can tolerate her feeds.

Katie is one of the "Fighting Angels" and we can't wait to have her home! We've all been praying so much for her and waiting for her to come home..we all miss her. Anna and Nicholas are changing daily and doing all kinds of wonderful things, smiling, cooing, finding their thumbs and fists - which of course must go in their mouths. They miss their mommy and sister. Another homecoming will happen soon and there's a small army of family waiting to see you both and make sure you, Sarah, get some much needed rest. We all miss you.
